We caught up with Joe Walter during his 2017 UK clinic tour, having spent the day watching his cow work clinic. In this interview, we get to know Horse trainer and clinician Joe Wolter, who studied with Ray Hunt and Tom and Bill Dorrance.

No matter what task we set them, it is of paramount importance that our horses are able to work for us (at any level), whilst maintaining their natural disposition. This is the fundamental principle I believe should be at the heart of all our interactions with horses. A well-trained horse should respond to a rider's communication rather than be forced into compliance by restriction and control.

We get to know Pat Parelli, a talented teacher of people and horses. In this interview, we chat about horsemanship, his passion for cow work and what motivates him.

In 2007, I switched to western style riding and still train regularly with an International Reining Champion. Having travelled abroad and witnessed ‘the rodeo’, barrel racing gave me new aspirations. In 2016, I became a regional organiser for the UKBHA. In 2017, I competed at the NBHA Open World Show in Atlanta, Georgia.

As a UKCC level 3 Coach, I now dedicate many hours to providing training clinics and competitions to further the interests of the barrel racing community and sport in the East Midlands and N.E. Anglia.

After spending many years travelling around America watching many Buck clinics, working in the background (on the ground) with horses, and also marketing a business for my now ex-wife…I had to start it all again for myself, from the ground up.

I looked at the market and found that there were lots of clinicians that did ridden and groundwork. It became apparent that so many of my previous business clients had trouble hacking out with their horses. Also, the idea of tackling obstacles, rather than just walking down a road, was out of the question. So the idea for Equestrian Fun Days was born.
